Oracle Corporation was founded by CEO Larry Ellison and his Co-founders Ed Oats, and Bob Miner.

Inspired by the 1970 paper "A Relational Model of Data for Large Shared Data Banks" written by Edgar F. Codd, Ellison co-founded Software Development Labarotires. Software Development Labarotires was later re-named to Relational Software, Inc and then finally changed its named in 1982 to Oracle Systems to align itself more closely with its first released product the Oracle Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) Version 2.

Even though Oracle started off as a Database Company. Today it offers more than just a database. Oracle is also known for it's E-Business Suite delivering Enterprise Resource Planing (ERP), Customer Relationship Management (CRM), and Supply Chain Management (SCM) software. Oracle is the World's Largest Enterprise Software Company

The Oracle E-Business Suite is based on a Three Tier Architecture.

Desktop Tier
Application Tier
Database Tier

DATABASE TIER / ORACLE DATABASE

A Database is like a Brain. In the Brain, memory provides an organism the ability to store, retrieve, and recall information, just like that a Database provides an organization or a business the ability to store, retrieve and recall information.

"A database is a structured collection of records or data that is stored in a computer system." Tables and Columns within a Database serve as a tool to better organize and categorize the data relevant to each record.

For Ex: Employee Data is stored in the Employee table and organized further by various columns within the table. Invoice Data is stored in the Invoices table and organized further by various columns within the table.

APPLICATIONS TIER / ORACLE APPLICATIONS

Imagine what will your life be like if it weren’t for the Internet?

Every day we use the internet to perform various activities such as using the web for News, Viewing Bank Statements, Paying Bills, Weather Forecasting, or just simple Web Surfing. Without the internet performing such task would be very diffcult

In Fact, today more people are buying and selling merchandise through the internet then through actual stores.

Today the internet is so popular that it has completely changed the way both small and large businesses operate. Oracle was one of the first companies to make its business applications available through the internet. The Oracle E-Business Suite truly changes the way Businesses operate by offering a fully integrated set of Business Applications within a Database environment in an internet format
